Mount View Wins 2nd Place In State Contest!

In April, Governor O'Malley and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources sponsored a competition to see which school community could plant the most trees.    The results of the competition were revealed this week, and Mount View placed SECOND IN THE STATE!  Thank you to all of our families that planted trees, and thank you to Mount View's Environmental Club for organizing the effort.  What a great way to start the school year!

As a reward, Scales and Tails will visit Mount View to show us their animals!   If your child would like to be in the audience, please encourage him/her to support our Green initiatives.  Students who are "caught" recycling or using recycled or reusable products, will be able to enter their names in the drawing to be part of the Scales and Tails audience.   For more information about the Scales and Tales program, please visit http://www.dnr.state.md.us/publiclands/snt.asp.   Good luck everyone!

Bus

Please remind your child about bus safety. Your child may only ride his/her assigned bus except in child safety situations with extenuating circumstances. If you are requesting such permission, you must send a signed note to school to be approved by an administrator for a 1-day exception only.

ÔTis the Season

With the season for allergies, colds and flus, the Front Office will happily accept donations of boxes of tissues to be distributed to classrooms.  If you would like to donate tissues, please bring them to the front office. Thank you.

Arrival / Dismissal

Students may only be dropped off / picked up along the sidewalk around the front circle. Cars MUST remain in line to exit the circle. Students must be ready to enter and exit cars quickly. The lower parking lot may NOT be used for student drop-off or pick-up. Students may not walk to MRHS at dismissal without a signed parent note and a designated adult to be responsible for the student at the high school. Students may use the crosswalk after the buses have left.

Late Arrivals / Early Dismissals

If your child comes to school late, he/she MUST sign in at the Front Office. He/she should have a signed  note by a parent/guardian.

If a student needs to leave school early, he/she should bring a note to Student Services before going to Falcon Time. By having a note, your child will be dismissed at the stated dismissal time and will reduce classroom interruptions. The parent/guardian MUST sign out your child in the Front Office before he/she can be released. Please be prepared with a driverÕs license for proof of identification when picking up your child.

Request For Work

If your child is absent from school, check the teacherÕs website for any missed work.  After 3 days absent, email counselors / teachers by 9:00 AM to allow teachers time to put the work together and bring to the Front Office. Parents can pick up the work after 2:30 PM.

Locker Reminder

Students should be using their lockers. All bags, totes, or backpacks of any sort must be kept in lockers. Smaller and appropriate sized purses may be carried throughout the day.
