Introduction
Were here (Mr. Duckworth - Library Media Specialist, Mr. Frankle -Technology Specialist, and Mrs. Gaskins - Library Media Assistant) for another wonderful and exciting year!
New changes and resources have been added for this academic school year. The former "Homework Helpers" online reference sources for students has been changed to "eTools: Information on Demand." The collection of databases now includes the "American History" subscription from ABC-CLIO. The online sources can be accessed at http://www.howard.k12.md.us/mvms/links.
Instruction / Research
Topics that were researched in the LMC during the second quarter included myths/legends and the "black death" by 7th graders. Australia and biographies were researched by 6th graders. Some of the topics were made into written reports and others into productions. Mr. Lewis?s 6th grade G/T Social Studies classes continued their "History Day" research.
Mr. Lewis's class presenting Australian PowerPoints and Mrs. Bross's class researching the "Black Death."
Productions
In addition to the Australian PowerPoint presentations from Mr. Lewis's classes, Mrs. Gavazzi's classes produced iMovies for their science classes. The topics included types of rocks, gems, volcanoes, and Pangaea. Students researched, completed an "Inspiration" web, wrote a storyboard, and then shot their production.
