Maryland Adolescent Survey

MVMS has been selected to participate in the 2007 Maryland Adolescent Survey (MAS). All local superintendents have approved participation of their selected schools and we are required by law to comply. This important biennial survey collects information on the nature, extent, and trends in alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use by Maryland's adolescents in grades 6, 8, 10, and 12. Survey results are used to identify needs and implement substance abuse prevention and treatment programs at the State and local levels. Results are provided for the State and county levels and are not available by individual school.

The 2007 MAS will be administered on Tuesday, December 11, 2007. Students in pre-selected classes in grades 6 and 8 will be asked to participate. The survey will be given during school hours by MVMS teachers. To encourage truthful answers to the questions and to ensure each student's privacy, names will not be written on the answer booklets. Thus, student responses will be anonymous.

A copy of the MAS if available in the Front Office for any parent who may wish to review the survey. If you desire to opt your child out of participating in the 2007 MAS, please complete and sign the attached form and return it to Mrs. O'Byrne by Friday, November 30th.

Box Tops For Education

Spirit Team Toy Drive

Please Participate in the Mount View Spirit Team Toy Drive!

Our children have an awful lot
And we can help them, sharing
The spirit of this season with
A simple act of caring.

So, for three weeks at Mount View
We're collecting unwrapped toys,
To make the season brighter for
Some area girls and boys.

The Mount View Spirit Team is sponsoring a toy drive for the 2007 holiday season. Please consider sending your child in with a new, unwrapped toy that he or she has selected and purchased - especially geared toward middle-school students - such as jewelry, gift cards, games and books?between now and December 7th. The recipient of the gifts is "The Family Tree" in Howard County: visit http://www.familytreemd.org to find out more information. Students should bring the gift(s) to their Falcon Time class -parents and teachers may also donate in the bin provided in the front office. The Spirit Team thanks you in advance for your generosity.
