Thursday, May 15th, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM (No school on Friday!)
Admission: $2 ticket PLUS a canned food item to benefit Maryland Food Bank.
There is also a collection bin in the lobby if you would like to bring additional donations to school, or if you can't make it to the Bash. Tickets will be on sale May 13th, 14th and 15th during lunch. Parents /guardians must sign permission slip on the back of the ticket. Students are reminded that all HCPSS school policies are in effect, including strict adherence to dress code; NO bathing suits - even on top of your clothes! Howard County Library invites you to a Choose Civility Symposium, featuring keynote speaker former Baltimore Colts defensive lineman and co-founder of Building Men and Women for Others, Joe Ehrmann. Ehrmann will emphasize how empathy, integrity and relationships are more important than anything else in life. Breakout sessions on civility in school, workplace and community will follow. The Girl Scouts of Central Maryland will hold their Daisy Day Program on Saturday, May 17th from 12:30 PM ?4:00 PM at Clementine Peterson Activity Center/GS Camp Ilchester. Activities will include songs, games, crafts, learning about the Girl Scouts and about how to join a Girl Scout Troop in the fall. Howard County Animal Control will hold a Be Kind to Animals celebration on Saturday, May 10th from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM in Columbia. The Soccer Association of Columbia/Howard County is registering for Fall 2008/spring 2009. Recreation is an 8-week spring and fall sessions of small-sided instructional and competitive soccer. On Saturday, May 24th the Howard County Autism Society and AMC Theatres at Columbia Mall will offer a showing of "The Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Caspian" for families with special needs. All families and friends with special needs are welcome. There will be no trailers, the volume will be kept down and the lights will be kept up. Children are encouraged to take sensory breaks. All showings will start at 9:30 AM. Doors open at 8:45 AM. The cost is $6 per person. Tickets can be purchased at the door.
This summer, the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks is partnering with Contemporary Arts, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to the advancement of jazz music in the community. The partnership is offering the Music and Arts Academy summer camp, a one-of-a-kind opportunity for campers of all skill levels to participate in instrumental and vocal music instruction and dance. The two-week camp will be held at Hammond High School, Monday ? Friday, from 8:45 AM? 3:00 PM beginning July 7th. The UMBC 2008 Youth Swim Lesson Program offers lessons for swimmers of all abilities. Class size is limited to 5 students per instructor in order to ensure a positive learning environment and experience. Each class is 30 minutes.
