Receiving The Weekly ViewPoint?
This will be the only printed Viewpoint to be distributed to students. The Viewpoint can be found on Mount View's website www.howard.k12.md.us/mvms and can be received by e-mail. Visit www.eschoolnewsletter.com and sign on to receive MVMS information via email at home and/or at work. Printed versions will be available in the front office and can be picked up by students Friday afternoon.
Office Reminders
For the safety of our students we ask that you have your identification ready to show the secretary when picking up your child for early dismissal.
Forgotten items: On those occasions when a book, project or other required item is forgotten and the front office phone is used to call home, your child will be responsible for checking the front office between classes to pick up items. Classes will NOT be interrupted in order to give messages or materials, unless it is an emergency. Forgotten lunches and money will be place in our office lunch box and given to the student during his/her lunch period. Phone messages, when received early, can be delivered to students during lunch; otherwise, students will be called to the front office with afternoon announcements.
Please join us on Thursday, September 27th at 6:30 PM for Back-to-School Night. Have you marked your calendar and checked your child's schedule in his/her Agenda Book? Please plan to attend and bring your child's Agenda Book.
Teacher Notes
From Mrs. Piluk: Any student who is interested in auditioning for All-County Chorus (open to grades 6, 7, and 8) or All-State Chorus (open to grades 7 and 8 only), should see Mrs. Piluk to get the necessary forms. FYI: These forms are due on Monday, September 10th.
From Mrs. Quinn: Students who are new to Howard County will be tested for identification for participation in GT Classes, if requested, when enrolled at MVMS. The HCPSS sponsors an open nomination period for students who are new to Howard County Public Schools for participation in GT classes. Students who attended MVMS or another Howard County Public School last year and who were not tested last winter-may be nominated for testing. Please email Mrs. Quinn to request testing. Be sure to include your child's name and grade. All nominations must be received by Friday, September 14th. In addition, the HCPSS will sponsor a nomination period to test students who are currently in 6th and 7th grades for possible participation next year in GT classes. The nomination period will be announced in December. Check out additional information about the GT Program at Mrs. Quinn's website: http://web.hcpss.org/~lquinn
